The first step when facing a shy partner is still to share quality books and films about sexuality.

Sexual shame is often shaped by cultural messages we’ve absorbed since childhood. Many people’s first exposure to sex information comes from pornography. If someone grows up in an environment where sex is taboo or seen as “off-limits,” their initial reaction to sex-related topics can easily be negative—“It’s something you do but don’t talk about.”

This largely stems from a lack of good sex education. Nobody told us when we were young and innocent that sex is a beautiful and natural part of life. That’s why it’s important to learn accurate knowledge, build a healthy attitude toward sex, and discover how to keep that positivity alive, creating more joy while preventing negative experiences.

Besides gradually practicing sexual communication with your partner through books and videos, it’s also key to include physical intimacy in your everyday life. Encourage your partner to express their needs and feelings naturally in daily interactions—not just during sex—so that talking about and experiencing intimacy becomes as normal and comfortable as eating or drinking.
